2025 Golden Globes: Everything you need to know ahead of the big night
The 2025 Golden Globes are fast approaching, with the ceremony set for Sunday, 5 January 2025. As one of the most anticipated events in the entertainment industry, the Golden Globes not only celebrate the year's top films and TV shows but also serve as a key predictor for the Oscars, which typically follow soon after.
This 82nd edition of the Golden Globes will air from 8 pm to 11 pm Eastern/Pacific time on CBS and Paramount+ for U.S. viewers. However, there’s a caveat for Paramount+ subscribers: only those with the Showtime add-on will be able to watch live, while those with Essential packages will have to wait until the following day to stream the event.
Hosting duties for the 2025 ceremony will be taken on by U.S. stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser, known for her appearances in Trainwreck and various celebrity roasts. Expressing her excitement about the role, Glaser remarked, “It’s one of my favorite nights of television, and now I get a front row seat (actually, I think I have to host from the stage).” She added, “It’s an exciting, yet challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable, and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who also might be getting wasted while seated next to their recent exes)”.
As for the nominees, a full list will be announced on Monday, 9 December 2024. With films like Dune 2 already making waves and upcoming releases such as Gladiator II and A Complete Unknown expected to compete, the 2025 Golden Globes are shaping up to be a memorable event.
