Matt Lauer’s daughter Romy, 20, was involved in a car accident in the Hamptons over the July Fourth weekend, Page Six has learned, but the college student left behind her license plate at the scene, which local police later found.

Multiple sources informed Page Six that the plate from Romy’s Jeep Wrangler came off during the minor collision, allowing Southampton Town police to identify the former “Today” host’s daughter.

Romy, the daughter of Lauer and his ex-wife, model Annette Roque, has been issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident, according to police.

Another source mentioned to Page Six that a ticket was issued, and prominent local attorney Edward Burke Jr. is “currently involved in the case and resolving this for Ms. Lauer” with the court.

Burke, who has represented high-profile clients like Justin Timberlake, Matt Lauer, Lizzie Grubman, and Jason Kidd, is handling the case.

A source told Page Six that around 4 a.m. on July 5, a concerned neighbor made a 911 call after hearing a loud noise from a crash on North Sea Mecox Road, fearing someone might be injured.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a fence and a sign had been knocked down, but the driver had fled, leaving behind the license plate.

On the night of July Fourth, Romy had posted a TikTok video of herself and two friends dining at sushi restaurant Kissaki in nearby Water Mill.

In the social media post, the group is seen mouthing the words, “I just got three things to say: God bless our troops, God bless America and gentleman, start your engines!”

Romy was last in the news when her father was seen singing and dancing in a series of videos on her social media in 2019, marking his first public appearance after being fired from his high-profile anchor position at NBC’s “Today” following allegations of “inappropriate sexual behavior.”
