MTV VMAs 2024: Final lineup of performers announced ahead of September 11th broadcast

The final wave of performers has been confirmed for the MTV Video Music Awards 2024, airing live on September 11th.

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2024 is set to air on September 11th, and the final lineup of performers has been officially announced. 

This year’s star-studded event will feature performances from Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J, and Shawn Mendes, all taking the stage live from UBS Arena in New York.

Anitta is scheduled to perform her hits "Savage Funk" and "Alegria," as well as debut her new song "Paradise," which will feature guest appearances by DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, and Taigo PZK. Karol G, who has previously graced the VMAs stage, is also set to deliver a highly anticipated performance.

LL Cool J will return to the VMAs stage for the first time in over 25 years, adding to the night’s excitement. Meanwhile, Shawn Mendes will make his debut appearance at the event, performing ahead of his upcoming album release, Shawn, slated for October.

The previously announced lineup of performers includes Sabrina Carpenter, Katy Perry, Chappell Roan, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Benson Boone, Halsey, LISA, and Lenny Kravitz. Megan Thee Stallion will host the event, adding another layer of star power to the night.

Katy Perry will also receive the prestigious Video Vanguard Award. In a statement, Bruce Gillmer, chief content officer of music at Paramount+ and president of music, music talent, programming, and events at Paramount, praised Perry as "a musical powerhouse and true pop culture icon." Gillmer added, "With her game-changing creative vision, she has become a global phenomenon and taken over the world’s biggest stages."

Leading the nominations this year is Taylor Swift, who has earned 10 nods, giving her the opportunity to make history as the first artist to win Video of the Year three times in a row. Swift is followed closely by Post Malone, who garnered nine nominations, including Best Collaboration for "I Had Some Help" with Morgan Wallen.

Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Eminem each received six nominations, while SZA and Megan Thee Stallion are in the running for five Moonperson trophies. Olivia Rodrigo, Teddy Swims, and Blackpink’s LISA have four nominations each, as do Benson Boone, Anitta, Dua Lipa, Tyla, Bleachers, and GloRilla.
