Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, and Camila Cabello to reunite at VMAs amid love triangle rumors
Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, and Camila Cabello might come face to face at the 2024 Video Music Awards amid ongoing rumors about a love triangle involving the three.
On Tuesday, MTV announced that Mendes has been added to the lineup of performers for the upcoming awards show, which already includes Cabello and Carpenter.
It’s not yet clear what each artist plans to perform at the star-studded event on Sept. 11, which will be held at New York’s UBS Arena.
Many social media users were surprised by the “diabolical” choice to have all three singers at the event, but praised the network for embracing the “drama.”
“The VMAS really got Camila, Sabrina, AND shawn performing… lord this is gonna be one interesting night,” one user wrote, with another agreeing, “sabrina, camila & shawn all performing at the vmas is crazy LMAO.”
“Camila, Sabrina & Shawn? The VMAS messy as hell,” added a third user.
This announcement comes just days after the “Espresso” singer released her latest album, “Short n’ Sweet,” which fans suspect includes several songs about her rumored relationship with the “Treat You Better” singer.
Mendes, 26, and Carpenter, 25, were first linked in February 2023 after they were seen together in Los Angeles.
The rumors intensified the following month when the two were photographed leaving Miley Cyrus’ album release party together and socializing at the Vanity Fair Oscars party.
Despite reports that the pair were “seeing each other,” Mendes stated they were “not dating” during a Q&A with fans.
Less than a month later, the “Stitches” singer was seen kissing Cabello at Coachella, which Carpenter seemed to allude to in her new song “Coincidence.”
