Jennifer Lopez made significant efforts to maintain her marriage with Ben Affleck, but it wasn't meant to be.

According to sources, Lopez dedicated a lot of time and energy to ensure that Affleck was content and had everything he needed. Despite her efforts, Affleck's "dark and moody" personality began to weigh heavily on her.

Reports indicate that Lopez was relieved after finally filing for divorce on August 20, revealing that the couple had been separated since April 26. The decision came after two years of marriage, with Lopez citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split.

A source close to the situation revealed that Lopez "spent a lot of time making sure Ben was happy and had everything he needed." The source added that her efforts were almost childlike in nature, as she was constantly reminded by friends that she wasn't responsible for Affleck's feelings.

The "Gone Girl" actor's mood swings and negative energy were reportedly affecting Lopez, who values a more positive outlook on life.

Ben Affleck has long struggled with managing stress, a challenge that became evident during his marriage to ex-wife Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children. The source explained that Affleck "doesn't have good coping skills" and often gets frustrated, leading to mood swings.

While Affleck can be enjoyable to be around when he's in a good mood, his frequent negativity made it difficult for those close to him, including Lopez.

Both Lopez and Affleck appear to be doing better post-divorce. Affleck was recently spotted in high spirits during a dinner outing with his best friend, Matt Damon, while Lopez is also reportedly in a better place.
