Lil Baby arrested in Las Vegas despite holding valid Georgia permit for concealed weapon
Rapper Lil Baby, whose real name is Dominique Armani Jones, was arrested in Las Vegas on August 26 and taken to the Clark County Detention Center on charges of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
The "Yes Indeed" artist was held on $5,000 bail before being released, according to his legal team.
In a joint statement to The Independent, Lil Baby’s attorneys, Drew Findling and David Chesnoff, clarified that Jones possesses a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit, but acknowledged that they are "actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas."
This incident isn’t Lil Baby’s first encounter with the law. In 2019, he was arrested in Atlanta for failure to signal, eluding police, and reckless driving, a moment captured on social media as the then-24-year-old rapper was handcuffed by an officer on the street.
Two years later, in 2021, he was arrested in Paris on suspicion of transporting drugs and was released after receiving a fine.
Lil Baby, who gained prominence with his 2017 mixtapes 'Harder than Hard' and 'Too Hard', reached new heights with his 2018 hit "Yes Indeed" featuring Drake.
His second studio album, 'My Turn' (2020), went quadruple platinum and became the best-selling album of the year.
The album also featured "The Bigger Picture," a powerful single inspired by the George Floyd protests, which earned widespread acclaim at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
