Charli XCX set to perform at LACMA’s Art + Film Gala honouring Baz Luhrmann and Simone Leigh

The event, co-chaired by Eva Chow, Leonardo DiCaprio, and presented by Gucci, is a celebration of artistic excellence.

The LACMA Art + Film Gala is shaping up to be a showstopper this year, with Charli XCX headlining the star-studded event. Scheduled for November 2 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the gala will honour acclaimed filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and renowned artist Simone Leigh for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.

Charli XCX, known for her performances and chart-topping hits, will bring her signature energy to the evening, promising an unforgettable musical experience for attendees. The Art + Film Gala is a highlight of the social calendar, attracting Hollywood’s elite as well as prominent figures from media, fashion, and the arts.

The event, co-chaired by Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio, and presented by Gucci, is a celebration of artistic excellence. “Simone Leigh is one of the most captivating and important voices in contemporary art,” said Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director. “Her work brilliantly melds various artistic traditions while centering Black femme subjects.” He also praised Baz Luhrmann for his imaginative and passionate cinematic work over the past three decades.

Currently, LACMA and the California African American Museum (CAAM) are showcasing "Simone Leigh," the artist’s most extensive West Coast exhibition to date, running until January 20, 2025. Chow expressed enthusiasm about the event, highlighting the gala’s significance and Gucci’s generous support. “I’m excited to bring an incredible group together to honor Simone Leigh and Baz Luhrmann,” she said. “Charli XCX is set to bring the house down!”
