Carole King recently joined a virtual kickoff event for the Swifties for Kamala campaign, where she discussed Taylor Swift and even performed a brief rendition of ‘Shake It Off.’

The Swifties for Kamala campaign, not directly affiliated with Taylor Swift, was created by her fans to encourage fellow supporters to vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming US Presidential Election.

The inaugural Swifties for Kamala event took place on August 27 with an online rally featuring speakers like Carole King and Senator Elizabeth Warren. King, a self-proclaimed Swiftie and friend of Taylor Swift, shared her admiration for Swift and voiced her support for Kamala Harris. She praised Harris and encouraged attendees to engage in voter outreach efforts such as door-knocking and phone banking. King, who has been a political activist for years, urged participants not to be intimidated by volunteering.

King, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Swift in 2021, concluded the event with a spontaneous performance of Swift’s ‘Shake It Off.’

The Swifties for Kamala campaign has reportedly raised $100,000 for Harris’s campaign. It’s important to note that Taylor Swift has not yet publicly endorsed a candidate for the 2024 elections. According to Rohan Reagan, the Swifties for Kamala social media manager, the campaign is operating independently of Swift’s endorsement, though they remain hopeful she might support Harris in the future.
