ISLAMABAD:

An eight-member parliamentary committee for appointment of judges in the superior judiciary unanimously rejected the names of two additional judges of Sindh High Court on Friday, who were recommended by the National Judicial Commission for permanent induction.

Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan were among the six additional judges of Sindh High Court recommended by the judicial commission chaired by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on August 28. The decision was taken in a meeting of the parliamentary committee chaired by leader of the house in the Senate, Senator Nayyar Bukhari.

The parliamentary panel, however, approved the names of Justice Shahid Anwar Bajwa, Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh, Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi and Justice Munib Akhtar and forwarded their names to the prime minister. Once the names are forwarded to the president in accordance with the constitution, he will make the appointments.
