The PTI announced on Tuesday that prominent fashion designer Khadija Shah has been appointed as the national lead for strategic communications and outreach for its election analysis and management cell (EAMC).

This announcement was shared via a post on the social media platform X with the official notification dated August 2.

Shah made headlines last year when she was arrested following the May 9 riots. She faced charges related to vandalism and rioting but was granted bail in December 2023.

Although an anti-terrorism court withdrew her bailable warrants in April 2024, new warrants were issued against her in connection with another case stemming from the same riots.

In a significant move last month, Shah declared her intention to renounce her US citizenship in order to accept a reserved National Assembly seat for women offered to her by former prime minister Imran Khan.

The notification from PTI today confirmed Shah's appointment, with Salman Amjad, the head of PTI’s EAMC, naming her as the national lead for strategic communications and outreach.
