Joe Rogan maintains top podcast spot despite Donald Trump's boost to rival shows
Joe Rogan continues to dominate the podcasting world, retaining his position at the top of Spotify's podcast rankings, even as former President Donald Trump's recent guest appearances on other shows have temporarily boosted their popularity. Rogan's The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) remains the leading podcast globally, despite a surge in listenership for comedian Theo Von's This Past Weekend podcast, which jumped to second place after hosting Trump.
Since its inception in 2009, Rogan's podcast has grown to become the most influential in the English-speaking world, often surpassing traditional news outlets in both reach and impact. Rogan’s ability to engage with a broad spectrum of topics, including politics, science, comedy, and culture, has drawn a massive and diverse audience.
Despite this, Rogan has consistently declined to host Trump on his show, stating his reluctance to "help him," according to a previous interview. Rogan acknowledged that having Trump on JRE would undoubtedly attract significant ratings, but he has chosen not to feature the former president.
Trump's influence on podcast rankings was clearly demonstrated when Von's podcast, which had not previously ranked in the top ten, quickly climbed to second place on Spotify following Trump's appearance. This surge highlights Trump's substantial media influence, extending beyond traditional political arenas.
Nevertheless, Rogan’s position as the top podcaster remains secure. Although his show occasionally faces challenges in the rankings, these shifts are typically short-lived. Rogan's sustained success is further reinforced by his high-profile contract with Spotify, underscoring his unmatched influence in the podcasting space.
