Three former Fifty Fifty members file $300,000 lawsuit against Attrakt CEO
Three former members of the K-pop group Fifty Fifty have filed a civil lawsuit against Attrakt CEO Jeon Hong-joon, seeking a $300,000 settlement. The legal action was initiated by Saena, Sio, and Aran at the Seoul Central District Court on the 23rd of this month. This lawsuit acts as a counterclaim to a $13 million lawsuit filed by Attrakt against the former members, their parents, and others involved in the group's production, including The Givers CEO Ahn Sung-il.
Both legal cases have been assigned to the 31st Civil Division and will be consolidated for proceedings. Law Firm Dongin, representing the former members, is handling both lawsuits.
The former members had previously raised concerns regarding their settlement with Attrakt, citing "failure to provide settlement statements" as one of the reasons for filing an injunction to suspend their exclusive contracts in June of last year. The court, however, dismissed their request, stating the evidence was insufficient to prove that the group's earnings exceeded production costs.
Despite the ongoing legal battles, the former members are preparing to resume their activities under new management. They recently signed an exclusive contract with Massive E&C, a subsidiary of IOK Company, and have expressed their intent to build on their previous success, particularly with their hit song "Cupid." The legal dispute comes just days before the first hearing of Attrakt's $13 million damages claim, scheduled for the 29th of this month, with speculation that the new lawsuit is part of a broader strategy to counter Attrakt's claims.
