Catcher Danny Jansen made history as the first player to play for both teams in the same Major League Baseball game.

Yes, you read that correctly.

The 29-year-old was at bat for the Toronto Blue Jays on June 26 when their game against the Boston Red Sox was suspended due to rain. The next day, Jansen was traded to the Red Sox and took the field for his new team when the game resumed on Monday.

"I'm just going to put my head down and play," Jansen said before the game restarted. "It's definitely a cool thing."

While MLB has seen new signings join in the middle of suspended games before, there has never been an instance where a player played against his former team.

Interestingly, Jansen was the batter for the Blue Jays when the game was halted two months prior. When the game resumed, his former team had to substitute him with pinch-hitter Daulton Varsho, while Jansen, now wearing the Red Sox uniform, served as the catcher for the home team at Boston's Fenway Park.

The Blue Jays ultimately won the game 4-1, with Jansen appearing in the box score and lineup for both teams.

After the game, Jansen told MLB.com that the situation was "strange," adding, "I never would have imagined myself in this situation with it being history. I guess I would have assumed it would have happened before."
