Father withdraws grooming allegations against Ezra Miller, supports child's band

Chase Iron Eyes has withdrawn his grooming allegations against Ezra Miller.

Chase Iron Eyes, the father who previously accused actor Ezra Miller of grooming his child, Tokata, has withdrawn the court filings related to the case. In an Instagram post on August 25, 2024, Iron Eyes explained the decision to retract the allegations, stating that the initial claim was based on information from a witness who later recanted their statement.

"I made that statement in my pleading (in a time of absolute war) based on information from a witness who then recanted and said nothing happened that they could infer anything inappropriate from. Thus, I immediately withdrew the court filings," Iron Eyes wrote.

Iron Eyes, an attorney and activist, also addressed the current state of his relationship with Tokata, who is now 21 and part of the band Hundred in the Hand with Miller. "We are doing our level best to move on, to reconcile, to heal while remaining supportive as a father; as long as Tokata’s good we’re good," Iron Eyes stated.

The initial complaint, filed on June 7, 2022, in Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court, alleged that Miller had been manipulating and controlling Tokata, who uses she/they pronouns, since their meeting at Standing Rock Reservation in 2016. The complaint claimed Miller exhibited "cult-like and psychologically manipulative, controlling behaviour" towards Tokata, who later defended Miller, saying that Miller had "only provided loving support and invaluable protection."

Iron Eyes' post acknowledged the challenges of living under public scrutiny and emphasised the family's effort to move forward. "These are real people, living real lives and once you’re in that fire where there is no anonymity, there is no safe space for you to retreat," he wrote.

Attorneys for Miller did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
