Warner Bros. has unveiled the official trailer for "Super/Man," a documentary exploring Christopher Reeve's life.

Directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, "Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story" delves into Reeve’s journey from becoming a global icon as Superman to his efforts to find a cure for spinal cord injuries after a horse riding accident left him a quadriplegic. The film features personal archive footage and contributions from Reeve’s family.

Matthew Reeve, Christopher’s son, expressed his gratitude for the documentary, highlighting how it offers fresh insights through previously unseen footage and interviews. "It is a gift. We’re so lucky," he told Variety. "We not only have his films to look at but a collection of home movies to dig up and go through and interviews on YouTube of him to pull up. Seeing things I hadn’t seen before didn’t change my perception of him but enhanced it…like some rare Australian interview done in 1977 that was uploaded and I didn’t know existed. It was pretty cool to see that and uncover a lot more material than we knew about."

Variety's chief film critic Owen Gleiberman praised "Super/Man" after its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, describing it as a "moving, wrenching, compellingly well-made documentary." He noted that while the outlines of Reeve’s story are familiar to many, the film's detailed portrayal provides an absorbing depth.

"Super/Man" is set to screen in select theaters starting September 21, with a special encore presentation on September 25, Reeve’s birthday. A broader theatrical release has yet to be announced.
