Sports goods sector promised tax relief

The government is steadfast in its commitment to reducing the tax burden on exporters.

ISLAMABAD:

The government is steadfast in its commitment to reducing the tax burden on exporters, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan said while giving assurances to industry representatives during a meeting with the Sectoral Council for Sports Goods.

The virtual meeting, held at the Ministry of Commerce, focused on addressing the challenges faced by the sports goods industry, with particular attention to taxation and energy production policies. The minister pledged to reconsider the current policy that imposed a cap of 100 kilowatts on solar energy production by export-oriented industries.

This move is expected to alleviate operational constraints and enhance competitiveness of the sports goods sector, which relies on cost-effective energy solutions. Jam Kamal Khan agreed to present the industry's proposals to the Export Development Board by advocating the retention of fixed tax regime.
