Dhillon's Gunna collab to feature his father's poetry

Dhillon's upcoming EP, titled The Brownprint, is more than just a collection of songs; it's a statement of intent. He expressed his desire to push the boundaries of Punjabi music. "I'm calling my EP The Brownprint because I want to show our people that there are many ways to make a Punjabi song. I want us to think bigger than what we know to be possible," Dhillon wrote.

In a surprising twist, the singer revealed that one of the tracks on the EP features a song written by his father and includes a collaboration with American rapper Gunna. Reflecting on this unexpected turn of events, Dhillon shared, "Did I ever think I would be releasing a song written by my dad while featuring Gunna? Hell no, that's just a silly dream." This partnership, according to a press release, represents an intersection of two musical worlds—Gunna's signature melodic flow and introspective lyrics contrasting with Dhillon's masterful Punjabi vocals.

But the surprises don't end there. Dhillon also announced another exciting collaboration with Nigerian singer-songwriter Ayra Starr, Spotify's most-streamed artist from Nigeria. The track, titled Bora Bora, promises to be a powerful and infectious anthem, fusing Punjabi music with Afrobeats. Dhillon shared an illustrative artwork on Instagram that features both him and Starr, teasing what fans can expect from this duo.

These announcements come on the heels of Dhillon's recent release, Old Money, the first single from The Brownprint. The song debuted with an action-packed video featuring Bollywood icons Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt.

The Brownprint is set to release on August 30, promising to blur the lines between Punjabi music, Afrobeats, and hip-hop. This ambitious project follows Dhillon's earlier collaboration with British rapper Stormzy on the track Problems Over Peace and his debut performance at Coachella earlier this year.
