Arshad Nadeem honoured by Meezan Bank for historic Olympic gold
Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist in men’s javelin throw, was celebrated for his historic achievement at a special ceremony held at Meezan House, the headquarters of Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s leading Islamic bank.
Amidst enthusiastic applause from Meezan Bank employees, Nadeem received a cheque from the Bank's Founding President and CEO, Irfan Siddiqui. He was also honoured with a commemorative plaque and medal by Syed Amir Ali, Deputy CEO of Meezan Bank, to mark his remarkable achievement.
Nadeem captured the gold medal at the 2024 Olympics with a throw of 92.97 metres, earning Pakistan its first Olympic gold in 40 years. In recognition of his feat, Meezan Bank presented him with a cash reward of Rs9,297,000, symbolising Rs100,000 for every metre of his gold-winning throw.
The ceremony, attended by distinguished guests and media representatives, highlighted the nation's pride in Nadeem’s success. Irfan Siddiqui praised Nadeem for bringing honour to Pakistan, underscoring the bank’s commitment to supporting Pakistani athletes.
"It is a monumental achievement for Pakistan, and Arshad Nadeem has brought immense pride to our nation," stated Siddiqui. "His dedication, perseverance, and exemplary sportsmanship serve as an inspiration to millions of Pakistanis, proving that determination leads to extraordinary success."
Syed Amir Ali echoed similar sentiments, emphasising Nadeem’s impact on uniting the nation through his sporting excellence. "Arshad Nadeem’s achievement has not only bolstered Pakistan’s international standing but also inspired our youth to pursue their dreams with unwavering dedication," he remarked. "We applaud his resilience and commitment to excellence."
