Makhdoom urges Bilawal to fix party discipline

Coming as a yet another sign of simmering tensions between Makhdooms of Hala, Matiari district, and the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party, MNA Makhdoom Jameeluz Zaman has criticised his party for lacking discipline.

At a press conference at Makhdoom House in Qasimabad, Hyderabad, on Sunday, he advised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zaridari to take up the political stick to bring discipline in the party

Zaman, who is also head of the spiritual Sarwari Jamaat and son of former PPP-Parliamentarians chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim, has been striking a note of differences with the party's leadership from some time.

Recently, he called for army intervention in the riverbed areas of Sukkur and Larkana divisions where the menace of dacoits has been cut loose. However, Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and other PPP leaders have expressed their disagreement.

Continuing his soft censure over the discipline he questioned "did someone accept responsibility and resign from their positions when the chairman was defeated [in general elections 2024] in Lahore,". Zaman also went on to advise the leadership to dispel the impression of rampant corruption which is being associated with the PPP because such allegations by default are ultimately levelled at Bilawal.

The MNA said he raised the issue of law and order in the districts of Larkana and Sukkur divisions and asked why do the politicians living in those districts not talk about this issue. According to him, he also wrote a letter to IGP Sindh but he did not respond. He paid tribute to CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz for increasing head money on bandits from Rs1 million to Rs10 million following the tragic incident of martyrdom of 12 cops in that province this week.

Zaman said it does not matter that CM Sindh Shah is changed or not. "The need is to start an operation in the riverbed areas in Sukkur and Larkana divisions to restore peace." Earlier, this week the MNA had advised Sindh CM to visit the bandits infested areas without security so that he can realize gravity of the problem.
