RAWALPINDI:

In response to public complaints about substandard healthcare services at the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC), Advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister on Health visited the facility to address patients' concerns.

Upon arrival, Maj-Gen (retd) Dr Azhar Mehmood Kayani issued directives to the hospital management, emphasising that patient care must be the utmost priority.

He asserted that any negligence would not be tolerated, and stressed the importance of doctors and staff ensuring timely attendance in the Outpatient Department (OPD) and wards, with disciplinary actions looming for non-compliance.

During his tour of the RIC, Kayani inspected various departments, including the male and female emergency ward, cardiac care unit (CCU), OPD, and others, to evaluate the quality of healthcare services being provided. He questioned the staff about the treatment being administered to hospitalised patients and reiterated the necessity for punctual attendance in the OPD.

Kayani emphasised that the Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz was firmly committed to providing quality healthcare services to the public. He lauded the RIC as a premier cardiology hospital, urging the medical officers to maintain consistent attendance in their respective wards and reinforcing the zero-tolerance policy towards negligence and underperformance.

While appreciating the hospital's cleanliness, Kayani underscored that every patient deserves timely and quality treatment, urging a collaborative approach among the staff to improve patient care.
