Ben Affleck’s “erratic behavior” was reportedly a major factor in his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, according to a report by People published Saturday.

A source revealed to the outlet that the “Argo” star’s unpredictable nature and “giant mood swings” ultimately led to the split with the “Hustlers” star, prompting her to file for divorce last week after two years of marriage.

“You could see the erratic behavior, the giant mood swings,” the source told People, noting that his temperament would sometimes swing from “being incredibly happy and warm — the best light that emanated from him” — to “the deepest, darkest behavior.”

“The truth is there was a great deal of love but also unfortunately what became clear were Ben’s erratic mood swings that he couldn’t hide from the press, as much as he tried to,” the source continued.

The insider suggested that Affleck might have been “signaling a message to the press.”

Around the time of their separation date, which Lopez specified in her filing as April 26, the former couple was reportedly “trying to work” through their issues. However, their efforts were unsuccessful. The “On the Floor” singer officially filed for divorce on Aug. 20 — the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding ceremony.

“They were trying to work through it, but when the mood swings and the big highs and big lows informed a toxicity that was pervasive, no one can help you — you have to help yourself,” the source claimed.

“But I would not be so bold to say there isn’t love — of course there is.”

The insider concluded, “The world was rooting for them, but who he said he was and who he turned out to be were two different people.”
