Why did Kangana Ranaut turn down Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan?
Bollywood’s actress and politician, Kangana Ranaut, has revealed why she turned down roles in Salman Khan's blockbuster films Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan.
In a recent interview, Ranaut, who is currently gearing up for the release of her new film Emergency, shared that Salman Khan had offered her pivotal roles in both movies. However, she declined them because the characters didn’t resonate with her.
"When Salman Khan offered me Bajrangi Bhaijaan, I asked him, 'What kind of role is this? I couldn't do that role,'" Ranaut disclosed. After turning down that film, Khan approached her again for a role in Sultan, but she also found that character unappealing.
"I couldn't connect with the characters," she explained.
Despite rejecting these major films, Ranaut maintained that Salman Khan has always been kind and supportive towards her.
"Even after I declined both films, Salman’s behaviour towards me has been very good. He remains in touch," she said, adding that Khan expressed interest in watching her upcoming film Emergency.
Ranaut further revealed that due to his busy schedule, Khan couldn’t visit her studio to watch the film, but he sent a mutual friend to preview it. After getting feedback from the friend, Khan praised her work, calling Emergency a "good film."
Reflecting on Khan’s fan following, Ranaut remarked, "Salman has a massive fan base, and I believe he deserves their love because he is a kind-hearted and empathetic person."
She also took a dig at industry insiders who criticise Khan, stating, "In our industry, only those who wish to take his place on the ladder of popularity speak venomously against Salman Khan."
