RAWALPINDI:

The Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has given the green light for the establishment of new anti-narcotics police stations in every district which will be aimed at to ramping up anti-narcotics efforts.

Each station will be led by a senior officer from the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and will receive comprehensive training from the ANF on drug-related matters. This strategic move was approved during a high-level meeting.

Seven years ago, the Department of Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control was entrusted with anti-narcotics operations across the province, but unfortunately, it failed to deliver. The decision to revive the anti-narcotics control wing of the Excise department has been made to address this shortcoming.

As part of the revival, new anti-narcotics police stations will be set up in all six districts of Rawalpindi Division, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang and Murree.
