ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has delivered its verdict in the case about the eviction of students from the hostels of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), under which the university administration has been directed to decide on the matter by the law.

IHC's Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb issued a written order on the petition filed by the students, which maintained that they had not done anything that would warrant vacating the hostel.

The students' counsel argued that the students had assured to maintain discipline in the hostel. On the other side, the university's lawyer argued that the decision to vacate the hostel was made by the university administration, and the court could not interfere with it.

In its order, the court upheld that the students were not entitled to the hostel provided by the university as a matter of right, but the administration should ensure that vacating the hostel does not disrupt the students' academic activities.

The court left it to the administration to decide whether students involved in undesirable activities could stay in the hostel or not.
