Nazish Jahangir sets record straight on Durefishan comment
Nazish Jahangir recently found herself in the spotlight, not for her acting prowess, but for a comment she made about fellow actor Durefishan Saleem that stirred up quite the social media storm. It all started during an interview on a local channel alongside her Poppay Di Wedding costar Khushhal Khan when Nazish was asked a seemingly innocent question: Which Pakistani actor has gained more popularity due to luck rather than talent?
Without much hesitation, she named Durefishan Saleem, the rising star known for her role in the hit drama serial Ishq Murshid. This statement didn't sit well with fans of Durefishan, and before long, the internet was buzzing.
A user commented under the clip. "Durefishan is 200 times the better actor than Nazish. And more beautiful." Another wrote, "She probably doesn't have any achievements of her own that's why shes focusing on others."
But let's rewind a bit. Durefishan has been on a meteoric rise in the industry, charming audiences with her performances in dramas like Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi and Jaisay Aapki Marzi. Her talent, coupled with a bit of good fortune, has catapulted her to the top, making her a household name in no time. So, when Nazish's comment suggested that Durefishan's success was more about luck than talent, it naturally ruffled a few feathers.
However, in a recent interview with Ambreen Fatima, Nazish decided to set the record straight. Revisiting her previous statement in the previous interview, she clarified that her words were misinterpreted. What she meant, she explained, was that while talent is undoubtedly important, good luck also plays a crucial role in an actor's success.
"People took that statement out of context," Nazish explained. "Dure is, Mashallah, doing great work, and I'm one of those people who truly appreciates that. I strongly believe that we should never put down our local artists; we should always encourage them. What I meant by saying she has luck is that when someone does good work, it's because of their talent, but it also has a lot to do with the luck and blessings God gives."
In fact, the actor went on to praise Durefishan's achievements, acknowledging that her success is a blend of both talent and good fortune. She emphasised that she has always been a supporter of her fellow actors and is genuinely proud of Durefishan's work in the industry.
However, this is not the only thing the actor was under fire for during the interview. The actor faced heat from Babar Azam fans after she gave a remark against Pakistan's cricket team captain. The controversy started when a fan asked Nazish if she would marry Azam, to which, she reportedly said "Mazraat hi karungi", which means "Will say sorry". However, her blunt "no" was not liked by fans who then began commenting under her Instagram posts in support of their favourite cricketer.
"Babar Azam is the king," commented an Instagram user. Another wrote, "She only became famous after the comment about Babar Azam."
There were people in the comments section, who defended the actor's statement saying, "Everyone, it's not necessary that every woman should want to marry Babar Azam. So please, lets move away from this topic. Don't make a joke out of a woman."
