MQM-Pakistan’s leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Ali Khurshidi, has criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) ministers, urging them to reflect on their 15-year governance record before making statements against the MQM.

Responding to remarks by Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, Khurshidi stated, “Every child in Sindh is aware of the corruption tales of the PPP-led provincial government. In the world, development happens, and then corruption follows. But in Sindh, development occurs only when corruption is needed.”

He accused the PPP of elevating corruption to an industry status in Sindh. “Every year, reports from national and international organisations rank the Sindh government at the top for corruption,” Khurshidi said.

“The dilapidated infrastructure and poor health and education systems are witnesses to the corruption of the Sindh government.”

Khurshidi questioned, “Can Nasir Hussain Shah tell us how many jobs the Sindh government has provided to the youth of Karachi over the past 15 years? How much does the Sindh government spend annually on Karachi, which contributes 70% to the provincial and national budgets?”

He further added that Karachi’s hospitals, roads, parks, and schools are built using World Bank loans, which the residents of Karachi have to repay.

“The biased PPP-led Sindh government does not provide water, sewage, education, or jobs to Karachi and other cities,” Khurshidi concluded.

Nasir Hussain Shah had earlier stated that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement must realise that they no longer hold control over Karachi.

Reacting to comments by MQM leader Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui about Jinnah Hospital, Shah called the remarks "ridiculous" and pointed out that the Sindh government spends Rs30 billion annually on Jinnah, NICVD, and NICH hospitals. "Karachi's citizens acknowledge our efforts, whether you do or not is irrelevant," Shah said.
