IShowSpeed, one of YouTube's most popular streamers, was left in shock when his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, surpassed him in YouTube subscribers just a day after joining the platform. Known as Ronaldo’s biggest fan, Speed’s admiration for the footballing legend is well-documented, from attending every one of Ronaldo's games at the 2022 World Cup to falling to his knees when he finally met his hero.

When Ronaldo launched his YouTube channel on August 21, 2024, Speed was quick to express his desire for a collaboration. Given Speed’s massive following on the platform, it seemed like a natural fit. However, if Ronaldo ever decides to start streaming on YouTube, he is poised to overshadow Speed entirely—an idea that quickly became a reality when Ronaldo surpassed Speed's 28.2 million subscribers in less than two days.

Live on stream, Speed watched in disbelief as Ronaldo’s subscriber count rapidly approached his own. “Here he comes! Ronaldo the GOAT!” Speed exclaimed as the Portuguese star’s numbers climbed. “Oh my god, he just did it in one day, he passed me in one day!”
