No Mbappé, no problem: Luis Enrique's PSG continue to impress with 6-0 rout

PSG’s relentless pressure and star performances from Barcola, Neves, and Asensio secure a dominant Ligue 1 win

Luis Enrique remains unsatisfied with Paris Saint-Germain's progress, despite winning three titles and reaching the Champions League semi-finals in his second season. His vision for PSG, focused on high-intensity, relentless pressure, has started to take shape, even without Kylian Mbappe.

Key additions like Joao Neves, Bradley Barcola, and Marco Asensio have bolstered the squad, contributing to two wins and a solid start to the Ligue 1 season. Ahead of their Sunday match against Marseille, PSG secured a decisive 6-0 victory over Montpellier on Friday, cementing their position at the top of Ligue 1.

PSG wasted no time, taking the lead just three minutes into the match—a sign of their progress and dominance. Bradley Barcola, particularly impressive on the left wing, was unstoppable, finishing with a brilliant outside-foot shot after a quick one-two with Joao Neves.

Neves, making his first start since his €60 million move from Benfica, showcased his intelligence, pressing, and playmaking skills, assisting in four goals over two matches.

Barcola and Neves shone again for the 2-0 goal, with Neves providing a perfect pass for Marco Asensio’s finish in the 23rd minute.

PSG’s goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, reaffirmed his value with a crucial save late in the first half, preserving their lead.

The second half saw PSG extend their dominance. Barcola completed his brace in the 53rd minute, followed by goals from Hakimi, Zaire Emery, and Kang In, sealing a comprehensive 6-0 victory.

The performance highlighted PSG's strength, even without Mbappé, and confirmed their rise under Luis Enrique’s intense, pressing football.
