LAHORE:

The mystery of the murder of a 33-year-old man who had been abducted from Faisal Town and killed in the Ichra area has been solved with the arrest of two police officials involved in the crime.

However, a third suspect, a dismissed Dolphin Force constable, remains at large.

According to officials, the arrested personnel are Muazzam Hussain, stationed at Garden Town Police Station, and Ejaz from Township Police Station.

The fugitive, Hamza, is a Dolphin Force constable who has been dismissed from service.

The arrests were made following an investigation aided by CCTV footage, which traced Muazzam to the Kahna area and Ejaz to Garden Town, where they were apprehended.

The investigation revealed that the victim Farukh Arshad had met Munazzam at Barkat Market on the morning of August 18. Farukh, who had also met the policeman earlier, gave him a lift in his car, and they proceeded to the victim's residence. Muazzam stayed with Farukh in his garage and later accompanied him in a different vehicle as they left the house.

Muazzam then took Farukh a Flat in Sharif Plaza, located in Ichhra.

It was revealed that Muazzam had secretly rented the flat, which became the site of the crime.

According to Model Town SP Ikhlaq Ullah Tarar, the detained officials had confessed to kidnapping Farukh for ransom.

The situation escalated when Farukh attempted to escape from the flat. In his desperate bid for escape, he climbed to the rooftop of the plaza and jumped off, resulting in his immediate death.

In an attempt to mislead the police, Muazzam took Farukh's mobile phone and wallet and disposed of them in the Shahdara area.

The police said efforts were under way to apprehend the dismissed Dolphin Force constable who was still at large.
