Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, bringing their two-year marriage to an end. The couple, who reunited and got engaged for the second time in April 2022, had initially marked their rekindled love with a special engraving on Lopez’s engagement ring. The green diamond ring, a gift from Affleck, was inscribed with the phrase “not.going.anywhere,” a line he used in his emails when they started talking again, as Lopez shared during an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music One.

Despite this romantic gesture, Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday, which was the anniversary of their second wedding ceremony. A source informed Page Six that Lopez chose the date deliberately to assert her independence, stating that she is “a woman standing up in her own way.” The couple’s official separation date was listed as April 26, 2024, highlighting that their relationship had been strained for some time.

Throughout the summer, the couple reportedly lived on opposite coasts and had put their $60 million marital home on the market. Reports from May suggested that their marriage was in trouble, with Affleck allegedly reluctant to file for divorce earlier to avoid embarrassing Lopez. An insider told People that Affleck showed “no interest” in resolving their issues.

“She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage,” the source said. “He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.”
