Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has made headlines for his provocative comments about body slamming Vice-President Kamala Harris and questioning her racial identity.

In a video acquired by TMZ, the 71-year-old Hogan can be seen asking a lively crowd, "Do you want me to body slam Kamala Harris?!" and "Do you want me to drop the leg on Kamala?!" referring to one of his signature wrestling moves.

These remarks were made during a promotional event for his new beer and come at a time when there are increased calls to curb violent political rhetoric, following a recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Hogan also made controversial remarks about Harris’s Indian heritage, questioning her racial identity and using an outdated and stereotypical greeting associated with Native American Indians.

The video cuts off after Hogan remarks that he "was going to get heat for that one" and adds, "That was not me, that was the beer talking." The BBC has reached out to Hulk Hogan's management for a response.

Hogan’s comments come amid recent attacks by Trump on Harris's racial identity, with Trump falsely claiming that she only recently began to emphasize her Black heritage. Last month, Hogan spoke at the Republican National Convention, praising Trump and displaying a vest with Trump's name and his vice-presidential pick, JD Vance. These remarks come as Democrats hold their convention in Chicago, where they are set to formally endorse Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate for the November election.
