Hoax helpline caller arrested

A man who made a false call to the 15 helpline about a robbery by a burqa-clad woman was arrested by Shahdra police.

The caller had reported that a motorcycle-riding woman and man had snatched his mobile phone and fled. Upon receiving the emergency call, the police initiated an investigation, using CCTV footage to track down the suspects.

The investigation revealed that the burqa-clad suspect was a man. Further investigation revealed that the caller himself was a part of a conspiracy. Along with his accomplices, the caller had orchestrated the robbery in a bid to sell his expensive mobile phone, which his father had recently gifted him, and share the proceeds with his partners in crime.
