LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Shakeel Ahmad has issued directives to the Chief Secretary and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab to refrain from harassing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers.

The court's order came in response to a petition filed by Zubair Kasana, PTI's Punjab President, alleging that police officials were preventing party members from attending a public gathering scheduled for August 22 in Tarnol.

In his petition, Kasana argued that the Constitution of Pakistan grants the right to hold rallies and public gatherings.

However, he claimed that on the orders of the Punjab government, police officials were harassing PTI workers and conducting raids to hinder their participation in the event.

Kasana requested the court to intervene and prevent further harassment and illegal raids on PTI workers' homes.

After hearing the plea, Justice Ahmad directed the relevant authorities to ensure that PTI workers are not obstructed from attending the scheduled gathering. The petition was subsequently disposed of.
