Hafiz Naeem slams PPP's governance in Sindh

JI Karachi chief Munim Zafar Khan says local govt representatives would protest on August 24 outside KMC Head Office

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for what he called "the worst governance" in Sindh, accusing the party of turning into a "group of feudal lords and families."

In a scathing attack on Wednesday, Rehman stated, "The PPP, once a party, has now become a mere group of a few feudal lords. They have taken over Karachi's mayorship without winning the mandate. The time has come to rid the nation of this occupying mafia."

Rehman announced that JI will launch a nationwide public outreach campaign from September 1 and hold a countrywide strike on August 28 against rising electricity prices and unjust taxes. He asserted, "The government must provide relief to the people, and no other party is standing up for the rights of the public like Jamaat-e-Islami."

Meanwhile, JI Karachi chief Munim Zafar Khan revealed that the party's local government representatives would protest on August 24 outside KMC Head Office on MA Jinnah Road. The demonstration will address the mayor's incompetence, dilapidated roads, and the failure to transfer resources and powers to town and union council levels.

Khan stated, "This will not be the first or the last protest. If the Sindh government and the 'occupying' mayor do not correct their course, we will continue our demonstrations at every level."

He also criticised the Sindh government for its poor handling of the Red Line project and accused it of neglecting Karachi despite receiving substantial federal funds. "The city’s crumbling infrastructure, water scarcity, and garbage-filled streets are evidence of the government's incompetence," Khan added.

Khan further denounced the clandestine increase in water and sewerage bills and condemned the imposition of municipal utility charges in electricity bills, calling it a betrayal of the city's residents.
