Accused in Khalilur Rehman case alleges electric shock abuse during interrogation

Evidence of physical abuse on Amna Arooj's legs, documenting three distinct injuries, was revealed during a Lahore High Court (LHC) hearing over the Khalilur Rehman video leak case.
Amna Arooj, the key accused in the Khalilur Rehman video leak case, alleged that she was subjected to electric shocks during interrogation.
During a hearing at the Lahore High Court (LHC), Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh presided over a petition filed by Amna Arooj’s mother, Zeenat Bibi, requesting a medical examination of her daughter.
The petition named the Inspector General of Prisons and the Superintendent of Kot lakhpat Jail as respondents.
The petition claimed that Arooj was subjected to severe physical and mental torture while in police custody, resulting in both internal and external injuries.
It requested the court to order her medical examination and present her in court.
During the hearing, an initial medical report was submitted, indicating signs of physical abuse on Arooj’s legs, with three injuries noted.
The government lawyer confirmed the presence of two to three injuries under review.
The medical report suggested further examinations, including X-rays and additional tests, to complete the evaluation.
The court inquired about the time required for the medical procedures, to which Dr. Faraz, the Assistant Medical Superintendent, responded that the process would take three to four days.
The court ordered the completion of Arooj’s medical examination and adjourned the hearing until 27 August.
It is noteworthy that Aamna Arooj had previously disclosed during interrogation that she was subjected to electric shocks, a claim that was not corroborated by the doctors.

On August 7, an Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore extended the physical remand of suspects involved in the Khalilur Rehman Qamar case by 10 days.
Amna Arooj and nine other suspects were presented before the ATC in Lahore after completing a seven-day remand in the Khalilur Rehman Qamar video leak case.
The court ordered a 10-day extension of the remand for nine suspects at the police's request.
