Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reveal no prenup and costly assets in divorce filing

Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after two years of marriage, marking their second wedding in 2022.

Despite ongoing speculation and rumors about their relationship, it has been revealed that the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot. TMZ reported that Lopez, 55, submitted the divorce papers in Los Angeles on the anniversary of their second wedding, which took place in Georgia. Without a prenup, all assets and earnings acquired during their marriage are considered community property, potentially making this short-lived marriage financially costly.

Since their marriage, Affleck, 52, has been busy with high-profile projects, including starring in "Air" and "Hypnotic," producing "The Instigators," and completing "The Accountant 2." He earned an estimated $38 million last year, with "Air" alone grossing $90 million. Lopez has also been active, appearing in films such as "Shotgun Wedding" and "The Mother," with a 2024 net worth estimated at $400 million.

The couple's marital home, a $60 million property they purchased last year, is already on the market. Speculation about their split began in May when reports surfaced that Affleck had moved out and purchased a $20.5 million bachelor pad. Lopez, meanwhile, continued house hunting independently. The couple was photographed separately at significant events, including Lopez’s 55th birthday and their second wedding anniversary.

Lopez recently visited Affleck at his rental home on his 52nd birthday but then attended a Bruno Mars concert alone. The divorce filing was made on the anniversary of their second wedding, with Lopez listing April 26, 2024, as their separation date. This divorce marks Lopez’s fourth failed marriage, following previous unions with Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony. Affleck was previously married to Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children.
