Hyderabad police arrest domestic worker and husband in Rs20m theft from doctor’s home
Police in Hyderabad have arrested a domestic worker and her husband in connection with a theft of valuables worth more than Rs20 million from the residence of a local doctor.
The suspects were detained after police traced the stolen items to their possession.
The theft occurred at the home of Dr Ghufran in the jurisdiction of City Police Station, Hyderabad.
The doctor reported that gold jewellery, cash, and Saudi riyals, valued between Rs25 million and Rs30 million, were stolen from lockers inside the house.
Dr Ghufran's family had been away in Karachi from August 7 to August 19, during which time the theft took place. Upon their return, they discovered the valuables missing and immediately notified the police.
Following the investigation, police apprehended the domestic worker and her husband, who had been working at the doctor’s residence.
Some of the stolen items have been recovered based on their confessions, police officials confirmed.
