Rs25b scholarship scheme for top students announced

CM said the quality of education and training would improve in government schools.

Congratulating the toppers of the educational boards of Punjab, their parents and teachers, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has lauded their performance despite unavailability of required facilities, environment and resources

Addressing an award ceremony, she said, "We are very happy that among 138 position holders of nine boards of Punjab, 70 are daughters and 68 are sons."

She said the quality of education and training would improve in government schools.

"Schools are starting a meal programme from September 5, under which milk packs will be provided to children of nursery to fifth class to overcome their nutritional deficiency. The pilot project of the school meal programme is starting from South Punjab," she said.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, "We are starting a scholarship scheme with Rs25 billion, under which intelligent children will get education from LUMS, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, IBA, COMSATS, FAST and other famous universities. Their fee will be paid by the Punjab government."
