An alleged thief died from electrocution shortly after a cell phone theft bid in Liaqat Colony on Saturday.
Dhamyal police said that the suspect identified as Asrar Hussain, who is said to be belonging to the Muzaffarabad area, was escaping after stealing a cell phone set from a house.
During his run, he collided with the live high-voltage electric wires and was electrocuted. The body was shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination and later handed over to the heirs for burial.
