Jeremy Renner reveals how daughter took care of him after snowplow accident
Jeremy Renner has opened up about the significant role his daughter, Ava, played in his recovery following his near-fatal snowplow accident on January 1, 2023. In an interview with Parents published on August 19, the Mayor of Kingstown star discussed how the accident, which left him with 38 broken bones and other severe injuries, led to a "role reversal" between him and his daughter.
"I became the kid for the first six months. My daughter had to take care of me," Renner, 53, revealed, adding that there was "something quite beautiful in that role reversal." He emphasized how Ava, 11, had to mature quickly during this challenging time, and he was able to demonstrate resilience through his recovery journey.
Renner, who shares Ava with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, explained that his bond with his daughter has deepened as a result of these experiences. "My love is deeper, my conversations with my daughter are more adult," he said. While he now struggles to find the energy to be the "goofy dad" he once was, Renner appreciates the new dynamic in their relationship, where he helps guide Ava toward independence.
Reflecting on his recovery, Renner expressed gratitude for the support system around him, acknowledging that "it takes a village" to raise a child. He now focuses on teaching Ava life skills, such as cooking, and emphasizes the importance of being mindful of others.
