MGK reveals massive blackout tattoo, marks personal evolution and year of sobriety
Machine Gun Kelly, the rapper-turned-rocker, has unveiled a massive blackout tattoo that covers most of his previous ink, symbolizing a significant personal transformation. In a revealing interview on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, MGK described the tattoo as a reflection of his evolution, both personally and artistically. “I’m in a new body,” he stated, explaining that the blackout ink serves as a visual metaphor for his journey from one phase of life to another.
The new tattoo, while covering much of his old ink, strategically leaves "windows" to showcase glimpses of his past, representing his integration of old and new aspects of his identity. “It’s like going from a caterpillar to a butterfly,” MGK said, underscoring that this transformation is about growth, not erasure. He also reassured fans that despite his evolving image, his connection with his audience remains strong. “The one thing I never want to do is abandon the people who’ve been with me from the start,” he emphasized.
The tattoo, which MGK described as "armor," was not only a significant emotional undertaking but also a physically painful process. He documented the experience in a video shared in April, calling it “the most painful s### I’ve ever experienced.” The journey of transformation coincides with another major milestone: MGK celebrated one year of sobriety earlier this month, having quit alcohol, cocaine, and heroin. This blackout tattoo, alongside his sobriety, marks a new chapter in his life as he continues to evolve both personally and professionally
