Miranda Lambert on mentoring young artists: Childfree life gives her time to 'reignite her fire'
Country music star Miranda Lambert, 40, recently shared her thoughts on mentoring younger musicians and her experiences with burnout during an appearance on Bunnie Xo's "Dumb Blonde" podcast. In the interview, Lambert explained that being child-free has allowed her to focus on guiding the next generation of artists.
"Since I don't have children of my own, I want to use that part of what I've learnt for, you know, younger generations, especially artists because nobody tells you how this goes," Lambert told the podcast host. She emphasised the importance of passing on her knowledge to aspiring musicians, noting that no one provides a "handbook" on navigating the industry at higher levels.
Lambert also expressed how mentoring young artists revitalises her passion for music. "Just seeing the fire in the eyes of, like, someone just starting out, it reignites your fire," she said. She highlighted the mutual benefit of these interactions, saying, "Being around that new fire and young people that are so hungry and so inspired is like, 'I want some of that.'"
In addition to mentoring, Lambert reflected on the burnout she experienced last summer after completing her Las Vegas residency. She admitted that short breaks were insufficient to recover from her demanding schedule. "I didn't realise what it was until I was like, 'I think this is what they call burnout,'" Lambert said. She added, "We have to learn the balance... But if you don't recharge, it's like then you're only operating at 50% anyway."
Despite these challenges, Lambert assured listeners that she has no plans to quit her music career. "It was just one of those moments... I've had those over the years," she concluded.
