PAKISTAN:

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court has questioned whether internet speeds had genuinely decreased in the country.

During a hearing on the issue of slow internet issue and the installation of firewalls, Chief Justice Farooq sought detailed explanations, remarking that before issuing any orders, the court needs to know what is actually happening.

He asked for confirmation on the actual decline in speed and which entities—whether the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) or the Ministry of Information Technology—were responsible for addressing the issue.

Advocate Iman Mazari, representing the petitioner, revealed that the PTA had not provided any response.

In light of this, the Chief Justice proposed calling high-ranking officials from the relevant ministries to clarify the situation.

The court later issued summons to all related parties. Notices were issued to all relevant parties, and the hearing was adjourned until Monday.
