Chappell Roan reveals she was offered lead roles in films
Rising pop star Chappell Roan has revealed that she has been offered lead roles in films but has decided to decline these opportunities to remain focused on her music career. In a candid conversation with comedian Bowen Yang, Roan expressed her reluctance to enter the acting world, despite being trained as an actor. "I’ve been asked in the past couple of weeks, like, ‘You want the lead in XYZ?’ and I’m like, ‘No,’" Roan stated. She elaborated on her decision, explaining that the unpredictability and lack of control in the film industry do not appeal to her. "The industry is legitimately so scary, and it is so out of my control," she added, emphasizing that music allows her to maintain autonomy over her work.
Roan, who has gained significant attention with her 2023 album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, prefers to prioritize her music, which she says has always been a source of creative freedom. "I can put out music whenever I want. I don’t have to wait for a casting director," she remarked. Despite her success, Roan remains grounded, focusing on what feels authentic to her. "I’m not doing a brand deal if it doesn’t feel right. I don’t care how much you’re paying me," she affirmed, underscoring her commitment to staying true to herself.
