Rapper San E faces assault charges over alleged park dispute with passerby
Rapper San E, whose real name is Jung San, has been formally booked on charges of aggravated assault, stemming from an alleged altercation with a passerby.
The Seoul Mapo Police Station confirmed on August 19 that the rapper was officially charged on August 17, following an investigation into the incident.
The altercation took place on July 28 around 8:30 PM near the entrance of a park in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Jung is accused of attacking a passerby, identified only as Mr. A, after reportedly instructing him to "push the bicycle properly."
It is alleged that Jung used his phone and other objects to physically assault Mr. A during the confrontation.
Mr. A has reported injuries, including damage to his face near his eye and to his teeth. Police responded to the scene after receiving a report of the incident, initially conducting a preliminary investigation before allowing both parties to leave.
Following further questioning, the police determined that there was sufficient evidence to formally book Jung on August 17, and a full investigation is now underway.
A police official revealed that Mr. A has also been booked for assault, noting that the case involves mutual violence. However, the official clarified that Mr. A did not use any objects as weapons during the altercation.
San E’s representatives have declined to comment further, stating, "We have no further comments at this time. We apologize."
San E first entered the music scene in 2010 after signing with a major entertainment company in 2008 and later gained significant attention as a producer on the audition show "Show Me the Money."
