D.C. councilmember Trayon White arrested by Federal Authorities: Investigation details and next step
D.C. Councilmember Trayon White was arrested by federal agents on Sunday, according to sources familiar with the investigation. Details surrounding White's arrest have not yet been disclosed.
News4 footage shows agents outside White's apartment in Southeast D.C., with efforts made to access his silver Tesla with D.C. Council license plates.
Seun Sanusi, a resident of the building, noted, "To be honest, this is actually not the first time the FBI has been to our building, so the FBI being here is not surprising.”
White is scheduled to appear in Federal Court for his initial hearing on the charges. Sanusi commented, "I’m assuming it's a big deal, so hopefully whatever happened, it isn't too bad."
As of Sunday evening, White remained in custody. He has represented Ward 8 since 2016 and won the Democratic primary in June for what would be his third term.
