Olivia Rodrigo reveals her secret to surviving tour life: 13 Hours of Sleep and 'Sex & The City'
Olivia Rodrigo, the 21-year-old pop star behind hits like "Vampire" and "Traitor," has revealed her secret to surviving the grueling life of touring: sleep. A lot of sleep.
In a recent interview with Complex, Rodrigo shared that she often sleeps for 13 hours a day while on the road, exhausted from her performances. But even with her busy schedule, she makes time for her favorite shows, including Sex and the City, which she watches daily to feel grounded and at home.
"I sleep so much on tour. I sleep for 13 hours a day sometimes. I'm so exhausted," she said. "So that passes a lot of the time. But I've just been reading, and I've been watching all of my comfort shows."
Rodrigo's comfort shows aren't the only thing that helps her cope with the demands of touring. She also has a special treat when she performs at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California - she gets to sleep in her own bed.
"It's amazing. It's kind of weird, I've been on tour for so long in various cities around the world, so it's interesting to just wake up in my own bed and be like, 'Oh, time to play a show today!'" she explained. "It throws off my routine a little bit, but it's so nice to be home, and have all my friends and family come to the shows. It's a really good vibe."
Rodrigo's latest album, "Guts," is set to celebrate its one-year anniversary next month, and she's beaming with pride over her sophomore effort.
“I worked really hard on this album and it wasn’t always easy, so I’m really happy that I persevered and ended up making something that I’m really proud of,” she said. “It taught me a lot about discipline and creativity, and how sometimes even when you’re not, like, ‘I’m just dying to sit at the piano,’ sometimes it’s just [important to] hone in on your craft.”
