Sindh govt pushed for electricity price cut in line with Punjab
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has announced that he will write a letter to the provincial government, urging them to reduce electricity costs in Sindh, similar to the relief provided in Punjab.
During a press conference in Karachi, Tessori emphasized that the Sindh government should offer the same relief to its residents as Punjab has, where electricity costs have been reduced by Rs14 per unit.
He stated, "If the people of Sindh do not receive the same relief in their electricity bills as Punjab, it will lead to a sense of deprivation."
Tessori added that he is drafting a letter to the Sindh government, urging them to allocate funds to lower electricity prices in the province.
This announcement comes two days after PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, alongside Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, declared that electricity rates in Punjab would be reduced by Rs 4 per unit for two months. This relief is aimed at consumers using up to 500 units of electricity.
Regarding the recent rains in Sindh, Tessori highlighted the devastation in the interior regions and the urgent need for aid.
He mentioned that ration bags are being sent to the affected areas, and he plans to visit these regions personally to assess the situation.
