Sargodha roads, markets submerged

Several recreational spots, government offices affected

SARGODHA:

Continuous rainfall for six hours has turned the streets into streams in Sargodha and its surrounding areas.

Due to incessant rain, the low-lying areas of the city have been flooded. Several recreational spots and government offices have been affected by water ponding, causing severe difficulties for residents.

The rainfall began at around 5am and continued intermittently for six hours. Due to the rain, all major thoroughfares in the city, including University Road, Jail Road, Farooq Colony, Cheema Colony, Kacheri Bazaar, Amin Bazaar, Karkhana Bazaar, Mohammadi Colony, Maqam Hayat, Water Supply Road, Iqbal Colony and other areas, were flooded.

During the rain, many citizens' motorcycles and cars were damaged by the water, leaving them stranded on the roads. Consequently, residents were seen pushing their vehicles through the water.

Besides the main roads, many recreational spots, including Company Bagh, PHA Park and Benazir Shaheed Park were flooded. Several feet of water submerged the office of the metropolitan corporation, which is responsible for sanitation and drainage in the city, and on the road in front, due to which it became difficult to enter the office.
