Laments lack of timely rainwater drainage from various cities

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to take safety measures in advance in the Sulaiman range in Dera Ghazi Khan in view of a flood situation.

She called for strict implementation of SOPs and issuance of guidelines for the residents of low-lying areas inundated in various districts.

"In view of the fear of flooding, the residents of affected areas should be shifted to relief camps in time," she said.

The chief minister added that flood drains should be continuously monitored in Narowal, Sialkot, Shakargarh and other cities." She highlighted, "Livestock in the villages should also be moved to safe places well in time."

She directed the authorities to ensure availability of snake bite vaccine in relief camps.

She said traffic should be immediately restored in the areas affected by landslides. The deputy commissioners should monitor rescue and relief activities in the districts, she added.

Taking notice of lack of timely drainage of rainwater in various cities, the CM called for immediate completion of the work.

She said flow of traffic should be ensured during rains in all towns and cities.

"The operation for drainage of water from markets and streets should be completed soon and the public should not face any difficulty," she added.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of three youths who drowned in Nullah Daik.

According to a statement, she expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolences with the bereaved families.
